Gustavo Delgado Jr. noted that while painful, it is manageable. He said, “It’s not something that’s a fine line. Painful but easy. … Long-term he’s going to be fine. He just needs antibiotics.” The Puma will remain at Churchill Downs for a week following his scratch.
The Puma finished second in the Grade 1 Florida Derby on March 28 at Gulfstream Park. His next potential race could be the Preakness Stakes, scheduled for May 16 at Laurel Park; however, it is likely he will not enter.
