According to reports, the glass contamination was traced back to carrots used in the affected products, with glass pieces measuring between 1-3 cm long and 2-4 mm wide. Trader Joe’s has emphasized their commitment to consumer safety, stating, “We err on the side of caution and are proactive in addressing issues.” The company has advised consumers to either throw away the recalled products or return them for a refund.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) classified the recall as a Class II recall, indicating a remote chance of serious health consequences. This classification highlights the importance of consumer awareness and vigilance regarding food safety.
Prior to this extensive recall, Ajinomoto Foods North America Inc. had already recalled over three million pounds of frozen chicken fried rice products in February 2026. This earlier incident set the stage for heightened scrutiny and concern regarding the safety of frozen food products from the company.
As the situation develops, Trader Joe’s has reiterated their commitment to consumer safety, stating, “We voluntarily take action quickly, aggressively investigating potential problems and removing the product from sale if there is any doubt about its safety or quality.” This proactive approach is crucial in maintaining consumer trust in the brand.
