Jacqueline Jossa will be returning to EastEnders as Lauren Branning, she has confirmed.

Actress Jacqueline, 30, will be back after leaving the soap five years ago in pursuit of other projects – which saw her become I'm A Celeb's Queen of the Jungle and land a deal with InTheStyle. Now she's finally returning as she declared she's excited to "come home".

The TV star as made a brief return in the past year after attending Dot Cotton's funeral and being a part of Cindy Beale's return plot after reuniting with Peter Beale. However, it looks like she's now back for good.

Jacqueline told The Sun on Sunday that she's "really excited" and thinks it's an "amazing time to be back". She added: "Walford holds a special place in my heart, so it really does feel like coming home."

She's set to begin filming in the next few weeks as "a lot of drama" is incoming following her return. The source added that bosses are staying "tight-lipped" about when fans will see her return.

They added it's "likely to coincide with the soap's legendary festive storylines". Executive producer Chris Clenshaw also said he's "delighted" to welcome her back and said there was a lot of "unfinished business" between her and the Beales.

The news comes shortly after Daily Star revealed that multiple characters will be returning this year. Executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: "There will be some characters returning in the not too distant future. They will be announced soon. Watch this space."

Jacqueline has had a busy career since she stepped away from EastEnders five years ago after falling off the roof with Abi Branning, which ultimately killed her on-screen sister in 2017. In the time since, she won I'm A Celeb in 2019 and has worked closely with InTheStyle.

She has also been raising her two children with her husband Dan Osborne, while running a drama school, The Jac Jossa Academy, in South East London. People have regularly called for her return to the soap, particularly after her brief stints over the past year.

It's unclear what will bring Lauren to the square – or if she'll be joined by her on-screen dad and womaniser Max Branning.
