Joe Swash reveals staycation plans with Stacey Solomon after family holiday disaster | The Sun

JOE Swash has revealed his plans to staycation in the UK this autumn after a series of holiday disasters.

The star, who is dad to Harry, 16, Rex, four, Rose, one, and Belle, seven months, as well as sharing wife Stacey Solomon's sons Zach, 15, and Leighton, 11, wants to skip out on Europe's beaches for a closer-to-home break.

Joe, 41, admitted that it's easier for him to "chuck the kids in the car" than consider travelling long distance on a plane.

And it means he gets to share his own childhood holiday memories with his brood – ensuring to keep them down to earth.

Speaking in partnership with Haven Holidays, he said: "When I was a kid, we'd go to the caravan maybe two or three times a year and that was a really big part of my childhood, so much so that I've now got my own camper van.

"I just have the best memories of being at the holiday camps, playing bingo and entering fancy dress competitions and I like to bring my kids back to that.

"I prefer that, because if you tell me I've got to do a long-haul flight with my kids it sends me into a real meltdown.

"It's easier to chuck them in the car and head down to the caravan for a couple of nights, or somewhere in the UK for a staycation."

It would make life easier for Joe, who admitted he's been at the centre of many a family holiday disaster.

Joe went on: "I've got a history of messing up loads with holidays, I just have booked flights at the wrong time, we've gone to the airport and I've booked them for the following week.

"Now, I stick to the sous chef role with holiday planning, and my wife Stacey is the chef – I'm just the buckaroo with the bags.

"But, I would love to plan to take the kids down to Haven in Kent for a holiday this September – they love that kind of thing and get a real buzz out of it."

Joe headed to Haven's Kent Coast holiday park last month to check out their £18million renovation – updating the 'adventure village' with a climbing wall and jumping platform.

Testing out the equipment, Joe added: "People think that where I've done I'm A Celeb that I've got no fear, but I got on this jump platform and it was higher than I thought and I didn't know if I could do it.

"Then everyone was around me, clapping and cheering, and I had to do it."

It comes after Joe revealed he'd sometimes rather go back on I'm A Celeb than spend time with his "crazy" family.

He said: “You know I cope so well in the jungle because of my family, I live in such a crazy house that going to the jungle is like a little bit of a break for me.

“It’s like, just give me a couple of nights away there where I don't have to get up at 3am.

“But really, I’d love to take the kids to Australia on a holiday and show them where mummy and daddy met, but it’s just a little too far – and they’re a bit too young.
