“It was a good message from some of our staff and leaders in terms of the approach that we need to have every day that we come out here,” said USC football head coach Lincoln Riley, emphasizing the importance of consistency and effort in training.

USC Women’s Golf has made headlines recently by winning their fourth consecutive title at the PING ASU Invitational, finishing with an impressive score of 841, which is 23 strokes under par. This victory marks a continuation of their strong performance, reminiscent of their previous four consecutive titles during the 2013-14 season.

In this latest tournament, Cal State Fullerton’s Davina Xanh claimed the individual title with a score of 208, which is 8 under par. Notably, USC had all four of their scorers finish in the top 10, showcasing the depth and talent of their team.

As USC Women’s Golf celebrates this achievement, the USC football team is also in the spotlight, focusing on accountability during their spring practice. Riley has set a standard of 95% effort as the minimum expected from his players, a clear message about the level of commitment required.

“We just have to be better prepared,” said Jide Abasiri, a senior player, highlighting the need for improvement as the team gears up for the upcoming season. He added, “Just being an older guy, I feel like it’s important for me to … help them just come along,” indicating his role in mentoring younger teammates.

Despite the success on the golf course, the USC athletics department is also dealing with scheduling adjustments. The Longwood softball series with USC Upstate has been modified due to expected inclement weather, which has affected the timing of the games.

Looking ahead, USC Women’s Golf will compete at the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur from April 1-4, a significant event in the women’s golf calendar. Additionally, they will play their final regular-season tournament at the Chevron Silverado Showdown.

As both the golf and football teams continue their preparations, the focus remains on maintaining high standards and achieving success in their respective sports. USC’s recent accomplishments reflect a strong athletic program committed to excellence.
