Beyond Vargas, other White Sox players also participated in the game. Tristan Peters entered to play right field for Bellinger in the bottom of the sixth inning, making a catch shortly after. Munetaka Murakami later came into the game in the bottom of the seventh to play first base. Both Peters and Murakami each had one at-bat, both resulting in strikeouts.
Despite the strikeouts, the presence of these players on the All-Star stage was noted. Otto Lopez of the Marlins also had a base hit in the bottom of the ninth, showcasing his strong year, where he ranks fifth in WAR in all of baseball and holds the top batting average of .334.
The American League‘s defense was also highlighted, with Ernie Clement making a notable play in the field. The game concluded with Bryan Baker securing the final out for the AL in the ninth inning.
