Vincent Trocheck’s Trade Status
Vincent Trocheck, a center for the New York Rangers, is at the center of trade discussions as the NHL deadline approaches. With only 27 hours left for the Rangers to negotiate, Trocheck’s future remains uncertain.
Currently, Trocheck has scored 12 goals and 27 assists, totaling 39 points in 46 games this season. Since joining the Rangers, he has accumulated 85 goals and 154 assists over 292 games, showcasing his value as a top-six center.
Trocheck is under contract through the 2028-29 season with a cap hit of $5.625 million, making him a desirable asset for teams looking to bolster their rosters. However, the Minnesota Wild’s interest in acquiring him has diminished due to the Rangers’ high asking price, which reportedly includes at least a first-round pick and a promising prospect.
The Rangers have been actively trying to move Trocheck but have not received satisfactory offers thus far. As noted by ESPN’s Emily Kaplan, “Trocheck hasn’t generated offers Rangers are looking for, but there’s no reason to play him.” This has led to Trocheck being scratched from the lineup against the Toronto Maple Leafs for roster management reasons.
Despite being sidelined for one game, Trocheck is expected to be ready for the next match if he is not traded. Mike Sullivan remarked, “Right now, everybody’s a game-time decision,” indicating the fluidity of the situation.
Trocheck’s 12-team no-trade clause, which will shift to a 10-team list in July, adds another layer of complexity to potential trades. Observers believe that Trocheck will ultimately be moved, with one source stating, “The belief here remains that Trocheck will be moved — he seems to think the same thing.”
As the trade deadline looms, the Rangers are under pressure to persuade teams to meet their asking price for Trocheck. His performance and contract make him a valuable asset, but the outcome of these discussions remains to be seen. Details remain unconfirmed regarding when Trocheck would debut for a new team if a trade occurs.
