Rihanna reveals unusual baby name – a month after birth of second son

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky welcomed their second baby last month but so far have kept the newborn’s name a secret.

However the little one’s unique name has been revealed – and it’s a nod to a song by A$AP.

The singer, 35, who is already a mother to a one-year-old son, gave birth to her second baby boy in early August.

The baby’s name is reported to be Riot Rose Mayers, which is their second child to have a name beginning with ‘R’.

Earlier this year, A$AP Rocky released a song with Pharell Williams called ‘Riot’.

A birth certificate obtained by The Blast shows the baby’s name and a birth date of August 1, 2023, at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. According to the certificate, the baby is a boy.

The couple’s first child was born in May 2022 and is called RZA Athelston Mayers.

Last month, observant fans noted that the entire family's names began with the letter 'R' – Rihanna, Rakim (A$AP Rocky's real name), and RZA – and speculated whether the new baby would also have an ‘R’ name.

It took almost a year for the star to confirm the name of her first son.

She later spoke about why she and her beau hadn't announced their son's name to the world, citing their busy schedules.

"We just didn’t get around to it yet, really. We’ve just been living," she told Associated Press late last year.

"But I guess there’s a certain freedom that comes with kind of just like getting it out there."

Rihanna – real name Robyn Fenty – and A$AP Rocky were friends for years, before their relationship finally turned into something more and they became official in the summer of 2020.

The beauty mogul and rapper, real name Rakim Athelaston Mayers, welcomed their son, RZA Athelston Mayers, in May 2022 after it was revealed Rihanna was pregnant only a few months prior.

In February 2023, during her Super Bowl halftime show performance, the singer revealed she was pregnant with her second child by showing off and cradling her baby bump while on stage.

Speaking ahead of the show, Rihanna said there was “something exhilarating” about the challenge of the performance, and that following the birth of her son she felt like she could “take on the world”.

“When you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you could take on the world,” she said at the Apple Music pre-game press conference. "You can do anything, and the Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world.”
