Jaden Ivey’s brief stint with the Chicago Bulls ended abruptly when he was waived for conduct detrimental to the team. They say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.’” This statement, among others, led to his waiver, as Bulls coach Billy Donovan emphasized the need for professionalism and respect within the team.
Before joining the Bulls, Ivey had been sidelined with a knee injury since mid-February 2023, which contributed to his decreased playing time. He missed the first 15 games of the 2023-2024 season due to knee surgery, and his performance had already begun to decline, with his minutes dropping significantly before the trade.
Despite his talent, Ivey’s comments and behavior raised concerns within the organization. Donovan remarked, “Just inside the Bulls, we have people from all different kinds of backgrounds… There’s certain standards I think we want to have as an organization and live up to those each and every day.” This highlights the challenges the Bulls faced in maintaining team cohesion and professionalism.
