Markwayne Mullin’s New Role

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1977, Mullin has a diverse background that includes an associate’s degree in applied science from Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology. After college, he took over his family’s plumbing business and also has a professional Mixed Martial Arts record of 5-0.
Upon his nomination, Mullin stated, “It’s an honor to be nominated,” expressing his excitement about getting to work for the Department of Homeland Security. He emphasized the importance of the department’s role, saying, “We’re wanting to get the Department of Homeland Security working for the American people, and that’s going to be our focus.”
In a statement regarding the transition, Donald Trump remarked on the effectiveness of the outgoing Secretary, Kristi Noem, noting her “numerous and spectacular results (especially on the Border!).” He also announced that Noem will be moving to become the Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas.
