Western Conference teams make moves
The San Antonio Spurs have reached an agreement with Tobias Harris, a 15-year NBA veteran. The 6-foot-8 forward is set to join the Spurs on a two-year, $31 million deal. Last season, Harris contributed 13.3 points per game, helping the Pistons secure the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. Throughout his career, Harris has played for several teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, and Detroit Pistons.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been active in free agency, securing several new players. Among them is Sandro Mamukelashvili, who agreed to a four-year, $52 million deal that includes a player option for the fourth year. The 6-foot-9 big man averaged 11.8 points per game in 80 contests for the Raptors last season. Additionally, the Lakers have reached agreements with Quentin Grimes and Collin Sexton. Grimes signed a four-year, $60 million contract with a player option, after averaging 13.4 points in 75 games for the 76ers. Sexton, who posted 17.5 points per game for the Bulls, will sign a two-year, $19 million contract.
In a significant trade, the Lakers acquired center Walker Kessler from the Jazz. The deal involves the Lakers sending unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, along with first-round swaps in 2028 and 2030, to Utah. Kessler, a 7-foot-2 center, has agreed to a four-year, $130 million deal with the Lakers. Last season, he played in five games, averaging 14.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
Eastern Conference teams bolster rosters
The Boston Celtics have made moves to address their roster needs, agreeing to a three-year, $47.4 million contract with center Mitchell Robinson. Robinson, a defensive-minded big man, previously played for the Knicks, where he averaged 5.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game last season. He is known for his dominant offensive rebounding and shot 72.3 percent from the field, though he shot 40.8 percent from the foul line last season.
The Celtics also added veteran point guard Mike Conley Jr. on a one-year free agent contract. Conley, who will be entering his 20th NBA season, spent the last three-plus seasons with the Timberwolves. Last season, he appeared in 54 games, averaging 4.5 points and 2.9 assists. He has a career 3-point percentage of 38.7 percent.
The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to a $39 million, four-year deal with veteran forward Dean Wade. Wade, who went undrafted in 2019, has spent his entire seven-year NBA career with the Cavaliers. He is expected to become a key rotation player for the 76ers. The Indiana Pacers will be joined by Kelly Oubre, who leaves Philadelphia for a two-year, $17 million deal. Oubre spent three seasons with the 76ers, posting 14.1 points per game last season.
The Orlando Magic are seeing the return of center Nikola Vucevic, who agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million deal. Vucevic was previously with the Magic from 2012 to 2021 and has career averages of 17.1 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. He was an All-Star in the 2018-19 and 2020-21 seasons. Additionally, Jevon Carter is staying with the Magic on a one-year, $3.5 million deal.
Other notable agreements
Norman Powell, an All-Star from last season, has agreed to a two-year deal with the Bulls that could be worth up to $45 million. The agreement includes a team option for 2027-28. Powell averaged 21.7 points in 58 games with the Heat last season. Marcus Smart, who played his first nine seasons with the Celtics, has agreed to a two-year deal with the Rockets worth about $12.7 million. Smart averaged 9.3 points and started 54 games for the Lakers in 2025-26.
Forward John Collins is moving to the Pistons on a three-year contract reportedly worth $51 million. Collins averaged 13.6 points and 5.3 rebounds in 69 games for the Clippers last season. The Suns have reportedly agreed to a $13 million, two-year deal with veteran guard Luke Kennard, who has a career 3-point shooting percentage of 44.2 percent over nine years. The Hawks are re-signing center Jock Landale to a one-year, $14 million deal. Landale missed the Hawks’ playoff loss to the Knicks due to a sprained right ankle.
The Warriors are signing versatile guard De’Anthony Melton to a two-year contract worth $11 million. Alijah Martin will sign a two-year, $4.8 million deal to return to the Toronto Raptors. Moe Wagner is headed from Orlando to Brooklyn on a two-year, $19 million deal with the Nets. Kawhi Leonard is reportedly nearing a deal to return to the Raptors in a trade with the Clippers, according to reports.
