Weather Update for March 6, 2026

As the day unfolds in West Michigan, San Diego, and Oklahoma City, residents are experiencing a range of weather conditions. A warmer and active couple of days are ahead, with chances for rain and thunderstorms increasing today, tonight, and early Saturday morning.

In West Michigan, morning fog and drizzle are expected, leading to mostly cloudy skies and unseasonably warm temperatures. Highs today will reach the low to mid 60s, with most locations anticipating between .50 to one inch of rain. A FOX 17 WEATHER READY ALERT has been issued for this afternoon into Saturday morning to account for the storm threat.

Meanwhile, in Oklahoma City, the atmosphere is unstable enough to support the development of severe thunderstorms. A Tornado Watch has been issued for much of Western Oklahoma until midnight tonight, with thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, large hail, and a couple of tornadoes. Rain chances will linger through Saturday morning, but the threat for severe storms is expected to diminish.

In San Diego, the weather is taking a different turn. Offshore winds could gust between 40-50 mph for the mountains on Saturday, while inland temperatures could run 10 to 15 degrees above normal by Sunday, reaching highs of 80 to 85 degrees. The same cutoff low-pressure system that will bring the offshore winds will eventually meander down over northern Baja.

As the day progresses, temperatures in Oklahoma will remain mild overnight, with southerly winds bringing humid and warm air. Morning thunderstorms may alter the atmosphere, and lingering cloud cover could play a key role in the development of further weather events.

Overall, today’s weather is marked by significant variations across regions, with West Michigan facing rain and potential thunderstorms, Oklahoma City under a Tornado Watch, and San Diego experiencing unseasonably warm temperatures. The forecast indicates a cooling trend closer to seasonable levels by the middle of next week in West Michigan.

Residents are advised to stay informed about the changing weather conditions and to take necessary precautions, especially in areas under severe weather alerts.
