Fielder’s office has stated, “Jackie Fielder is going through an acute personal health crisis right now and we are not at liberty to share details, but we appreciate the support people have given us and are proud of her for taking care of herself.” Mayor Daniel Lurie expressed his best wishes for Fielder’s speedy recovery, acknowledging her dedication to the community.
Known for her advocacy for public banking, tenant protections, and opposition to corporate interests, Fielder has been a prominent figure in San Francisco politics since her election in 2024. She represents District 9, which includes the Portola and Bernal Heights neighborhoods.
Reports indicate that Fielder has communicated her intention to resign to multiple individuals, although as of 4:30 p.m. Friday, the Board of Supervisors clerk had no documentation of her resignation. This uncertainty leaves her future role on the Board in question.
